Biography


Juan Carlos Chavarría, self-taught painter, was born in San José, Costa Rica
in 1974. Founder member of the 20 Artists Group.

He graduated in Hotel Administration, Business Administration and Marketing.
Also he owns a graphic design and Web sites company.

He took oil painting courses with the artist Guido Chinchilla also is influenced
by recognized Costa Rican artists, as well as art related seminaries for
example, history of the art, beauty, color and creation of cultural companies.

Juan Carlos always felt the artistic vocation, showing his drawing and painting
aptitude since he was a child, but it is not until the 2003 when he decides to
focus to his great passion: the art. 

His work emphasizes by its vigor and colorful, as well as by the strong textures
and the finishes highlighted in his oils.

His work highlights his worry for the nature and the damage that we human
beings are causing; he tries to leave a message of which the world must
change if it wishes to conserve the planet and its species.

At this moment his works are in different private collections in Costa Rica, South America, U.S.A. and Europe.

Appointed in 2010, Costa Rica´s representative for Museum of the Americas,
located in the city of Miami, USA.

The artist has the ability to have two workshops: the first in Escazú, San José
and the second in Tamarindo Beach, Guanacaste, in the Pacific Costa Rica,
where seasonal travels to paint.
